What is unique to your role at The Friends of Israel?
We have been able to build bridges between the Jewish and Christian communities through volunteering, attending Jewish community events, and organizing Honor Israel Nights. We have used Yiddish to get into the heart and soul of Jewish people, teaching them about the Messiah as we stand with Israel.
What inspires you most to do what you do for FOI?
We are thrilled that our philosophy of ministry aligns totally with The Friends of Israel. As Field Ministry personnel, we want to build relationships with Jewish people, loving them and teaching them about their Messiah, while always standing with Israel.
What is one bit of wisdom you have for those who want to share the love of the Messiah with others?
We need to listen from the heart, show respect for them and their beliefs, be patient, long-suffering, and show that our love for them is steadfast and sincere - God's Chesed, or unfailing love. We need to strive to build lasting relationships. If we follow these principles, they will see Jesus in us, and we will have more of an opportunity to share our faith.
What Scripture compels you the most to do what you do?
"For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not be quiet, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a burning torch" (Isaiah 62:1, ESV). This verse has always fueled us for ministry.
Who is the most influential person in your spiritual life? What books have you read (other than the Bible) that have impacted your spiritual life most?
Arlene is the most influential person in my spiritual and ministry life. Her 48 years of depth, love, and devotion to God's Chosen People is a treasure to me. If there were a Jewish Ministry Hall of Fame, she would be an automatic inductee! The book Inexpressible: Hesed and the Mystery of God's Lovingkindness by Michael Card has made a big impact in our spiritual life.
