Keegan Milsten (Washington)

Field Ministries Representative / Seattle, Washington

What is unique to your role at The Friends of Israel?

I have the privilege of serving with The Friends of Israel as a Field Ministry representative in the western region of the US. There I seek to bring an evangelistic, biblical case for Israel and God’s righteous standard to people in the public square: on secular college campuses, inside mosques, and in city centers. I specialize in reaching both those who love Israel but need the gospel and those who hate Israel. Together, we can make a difference — for both Israel and the Church.

What inspires you most to do what you do for FOI?

Ultimately, I can point to no other inspiration more significant than the Bible, which speaks to God's everlasting love and commitment to His covenant people, Israel. As Liberalism, Marxism, and Islam all invade the West and turn people against both Israel and the Church, I seek to stand at the point they all intersect: Israel. A hatred for both the Church and Israel unites these groups. Many people already stand to defend God's Church, but few stand defending Israel. Few things inspire me more than seeing the front lines of a spiritual battle play out before me — and knowing that God is using me as His ambassador in a place that desperately needs His Word.

What is one bit of wisdom you have for those who want to share the love of the Messiah with others?

Structure such efforts the way Jesus, Paul, and the other apostles did. They were unashamed of the gospel, communicating people's need for a Savior (the Law) before giving them the Good News of the gospel. As Spurgeon said, "You and I must continue to drive at men’s hearts till they are broken. Then we must keep on preaching Christ crucified until their hearts are bound up."

What Scripture compels you the most to do what you do?

Romans 1:16 outlines a biblical approach to evangelism that Paul lived every time he came to a new city: "to the Jew first and also to the Greek."

What books have you read (other than the Bible) that have impacted your spiritual life most?

Christian author Chuck Black of "The Kingdom Series" and "Wars of the Realm" (among other books) fostered a proper understanding of the Bible and Israel's place in it as no other resource did. I am eternally grateful for how God used such books early on to pave the way for me to be here now. Additionally, the works of Doug Wilson, Ray Comfort, and Ken Ham have been influential in causing me to stand more boldly (and literally) upon various parts of the Bible.
