Tiauna Lodewyk (Canada)

Field Ministries Representative / Ontario, Canada

What is unique to your role at The Friends of Israel?

As a young adult serving with The Friends of Israel, my role and vision in Ontario are to actively support the Jewish community through volunteering, advocacy, and standing against antisemitism. I also encourage churches to Biblically pray for and support Israel. Additionally, I am passionate about equipping and inspiring young adults to seek the truth in Scripture regarding what God says about Israel and to support their Jewish peers on university campuses across Canada.

What inspires you most to do what you do for FOI?

My love for God who is faithful and sovereign over the world. Without God's unchanging and sovereign nature, discouragement and despair would easily overwhelm me, especially given the current state of the world and the darkness against God and His people. However, because of God's faithfulness and His sovereignty, I can walk through life with the assurance that He is all-powerful. In His sovereignty, He will direct my path and use my submitted life for His glory and my good.

What is one bit of wisdom you have for those who want to share the love of the Messiah with others?

Always be prepared to give an answer for the hope that is within you (1 Peter 3:15) and pray for the Lord to provide those opportunities. In those moments, speak with boldness and love, guided by the Holy Spirit. In every conversation—whether small or great—give all the glory to the Lord, who alone knows the hearts of men and ultimately works salvation.

What Scripture compels you the most to do what you do?

Revelation 22:12 tells us that Jesus is coming soon, and Titus 2:13 speaks of the appearance of Jesus as “our blessed hope.” Verses like these, which highlight the imminent return of Jesus, fill me with a sense of urgency in sharing the gospel and following God in whatever he has called me to do during my short time on earth and to be a blessing to God’s people.

What books have you read (other than the Bible) that have impacted your spiritual life most?

Books on theology and Israel have deepened my knowledge (check out the FOI store for some great recommendations!). However, biographies like Lillian Trasher, The Hiding Place, and Trapped in Hitler’s Hell have had a profound impact on my spiritual life showing me the faith of incredible women of God who made the decision to follow the Lord no matter the cost. Faith in adversity is a faith that is tested, and it has strengthened my own faith to see it lived out in the lives of others.

Who is the most influential person in your spiritual life?

My grandparents have been incredibly influential in my spiritual life. Their unwavering faithfulness to the Lord throughout their lives, their commitment to praying for Israel, and their prayers for the salvation of their many grandchildren have deeply impacted my own faith.
